Characteristic Mechanics
Yes, this is “Clue”.
One of the crew is murdered by unknown alien inside the ship while going home to Earth.
You must find out what alien did it, what crew is parasited by that alien, what room the alien is now growing before you arrive the Earth.
One card from each category is randomly drawn and is kept secret inside the envelope as the true result. The remaining cards are distributed each player at random. So that, each player have partial information that cards he has is not a true result.
Every turn, you roll a dice and move inside the ship. If you arrive one of the room, you can challenge what is the ture result. You must reveal your reasoning by specifying one room, one alien, and one character. Then, you ask the player on your left. If the player asked has any of your reasoning, he must reveal that fact by passing the card to you for a moment. In that case, you fail the challenge and you must reveal one of your cards for other players. If that player passes because he doesn’t have any of your reasoning, you can ask a next player. If no player responds by card, then you can see the envelope. If your reasoning is correct, you win. Also, if you must reveal your last card because of failurre, you lose.
The rule above are local rule which I’d like to use. The differences from the original rule are you can challenge more than once. The asked player must respond if he has any of your reasoning.
I like this game (with my local rule) better than “Clue” for several reasons.
1) It is more speedy. Because it uses 8-sided die and the map has 2 teleport paths.
2) The game moves more smoothly because you can challenge from earlier stage of the game and this will give everyone more information.
As a result, this game is more continuously-advancing game then the original “Clue”.
Unfortunately, there’s no special ability for each character and alien. This make the game somewhat boring, but keep the game simple to play with.
